The precinct
Rovereto is located south of Trento in the Adige Valley, on the northern shores of Lake Garda. Rovereto can be easily reached from Torbole in half an hour by car. Although the mountains around Rovereto have the same geological origin as those on Lake Garda, the two biking areas are noticeably different. On the one hand, the maximum differences in altitude (Monte Zugna 1770 m - Rovereto 200 m) are not quite as extreme as on Lake Garda. And secondly, the mountain slopes here are less steep on average. This means that even the bumpy, karstic sections around Rovereto are much easier to cope with. However, the trails in this region are not easy to ride either. You should have an intermediate level of riding ability.
The entire area guide and the GPS data for the three BIKE tours on Monte Zugna from BIKE 4/2019 can be downloaded below. The link leads to the Delius Klasing online shop. After registering once, you can add the GPS data (free of charge) to your shopping basket and then receive it for download or by e-mail.
Overnight stay
Accommodation of all categories and price ranges can be found around Rovereto. The Rovereto tourist office can help with bookings. Info at www.booking.visitrovereto.it
Biking hotelier: Daniele Diest Simeoni runs the small Hotel Concaverde in Pomarolo and maintains the region's trail network. Info: www.residence-concaverde.it
Shuttle
Almost all shuttle companies on Lake Garda now also offer tours on Monte Zugna. This is a favourable alternative for groups. The provider Bikeshuttle Torbole regularly has the Zugna in its programme. The Monte Zugna Experience Tour has been offered several times a week for some time now: www.bikeshuttletorbole.com
Guided tours
Most bike shuttle operators work with local bike guides and also offer guided tours on request. Otherwise, some local bike guides have joined together to form tour groups. Information and booking e.g. via: www.gardamtbtours.com, www.mtbgardariders.com

The "Trentino Trails!" guide by author Ralf Glaser describes the Rovereto area in a separate chapter with five additional tours. Includes GPS data and digital maps for smartphone and GPS. ISBN 978-3-0005994-7-7, price: 29.80 euros. Info: www.trails.de.

Welcome Season 2k19
This event in the Alto Garda Bike Arena has little to do with Rovereto and Monte Zugna. But if you want to party and ride with the locals, you should make a note of the dates in spring. Information can be found on the Facebook page of the Alto Garda Bike Arena: www.facebook.com/altogardabikearena/
Happy New Season
The "official" season opener of the Angry Zugna Riders is an event that is open to all bikers. The day includes half a dozen shuttle rides accompanied by a bike guide. At the end of the long day, we celebrate together over beer and spuntini. Info and registration: www.bikeshuttletorbole.com
Rovereto War Museum
The Venetian castle in Rovereto is home to a comprehensive war museum that not only, but also, deals with the First World War. There are always changing special exhibitions. It is well worth a visit. If only so that you can better visualise the meaning and purpose of the old emplacements and trenches on tour. Info: www.museodellaguerra.it
You can find the complete area guide including tour descriptions and GPS data in BIKE 4/2019. The PDF version of the area guide costs 1.99 euros. Why not free of charge? Because quality journalism has a price. In return, we guarantee independence and objectivity. This applies in particular to the area guides in BIKE. We don't charge for them, but the opposite is the case: we do charge for them - hundreds of thousands of euros every year.
You can read the entire digital edition in the BIKE app (iTunes and Google Play) or the print edition in the DK shop reorder - while stocks last:
