On the run from winter: MTB destination Finale Ligure
Not in the mood for spike tyres and thick neoprene overshoes? The signs are pointing to spring on the Ligurian coast.
Lake Garda was out of the question for the suspension fork practical test this January - Tremalzo, Baldo, Altissimo and co. were freezing cold and covered in snow, so we added a few more kilometres and ended up in Finale Ligure. Temperatures of up to 15 degrees and bright sunshine greeted us: the best test conditions.
The infrastructure of the small town on the Mediterranean is ideal for bikers. There are various shuttle providers, hoteliers and locals are open to cyclists and the trails are varied and flowing with varying degrees of difficulty. But be careful: the heavy onset of winter has not left the area completely unscathed. The high-altitude trails are snow-covered and not necessarily recommended.
