On this satellite image you can see the entire network of bike and e-MTB tours on Lake Garda - green lines. All these tours are freely accessible. According to the new trail law in Trentino from April 2015, the routes marked in red were closed to bikers. The trails are listed here by number and the reason for the closure is given. Most of the trails were already not included in the route network for bikers. If they were, alternatives have now been identified. Trails that are not yet included in the green route network may also be ridden freely.

  1. Sentiero 422 B: Hiking trail to Passo Rocchetta (lower variant). The normal Trail 422 (upper variant) remains open for bikers.
  2. Bocchet di Spinera: Hiking trail 456 - reserved for pedestrians. Used to be included in the Moser Bocca Caset tour. Now an alternative through the Val di Pur.
  3. Sentiero della Regina: used to be part of a Moser tour. Very narrow and exposed trail with danger of falling. Closed to bikers after a fatality.
  4. Sentiero di Gola: Hiking trail. Already not included in the biker route network. Many better alternatives.
  5. Val del Tovo: A path paved with coarse stones. Formerly included in the bike GPS route network. Today a much better alternative on the Sentiero delle Vipere (Piazzole Trail)
  6. Sentiero 408, Salt de la Cavra: Completely unrideable for most bikers. Not yet included in the route network.
  7. Marocche: Not to be confused with the Marocche di Dro tour - this tour is still open. Marocche is a hiking trail in a rocky area. Not suitable for bikers.
  8. Sentiero della Maesta and Bosco Caproni, formerly Pianaura Trails: Formerly known as Moser tours. Have been closed for a long time. Hiking trails.
  9. Sentiero 666B and 668: Hiking trails.
  10. Sentiero 669: Upper part of the Hammer Trail - hiking trail, now closed to bikers (very demanding).
  11. Sentiero 608: Hiking trail, was previously not in the biker route network.
  12. Sentiero 637, also known as Anaconda: Hiking trail, part of the Peace Trail, now closed to bikers. Historical significance. Alternatively, ride the Naranch Trail now.
  13. Sentiero della pace, peace trail in memory of the victims of the First World War. Historical significance. Alternatively today Val de Diaol, Coast Trail and in future the newly planned Tempesta Trail.
  14. Busatte-Tempesta hiking trail: Pure hiking trail for pedestrians with 350 steps. Was never included in the route network for bikers.
  15. Monte Brione: biotope and nature reserve. Has been closed to bikers for a long time. It was no longer used.
The new Trentino trail law has closed 15 trails on Lake Garda, but only five that are of interest to bikers. Info on the new trail law in Trentino:

Since the end of April 2015, there has been a new trail law in Trentino, including on northern Lake Garda. Previously, biking was generally prohibited on all trails that were wider than a bike standing on its side and steeper than 20 per cent. A municipality could grant an exemption from this. With the new law, the situation is completely different: all trails are now freely accessible unless a municipality - i.e. the mayor - issues a ban for a specific trail.

There are now clear criteria for a trail ban: The trail must either be heavily frequented by hikers or be dangerous for bikers (risk of falling) or have a special historical significance (peace trail, etc.). Which trails fulfil these criteria is determined by a committee consisting of representatives of the municipality, the forestry office, the Alpine Association, the tourism association and the bike clubs. All together must reach a decision. No other closures than those mentioned above are to be expected on Lake Garda.
