The Sarntal Valley in South Tyrol was once considered a stronghold of witches. Nowadays, uphill bikers also want a flying broom, but downhill it would really be a shame to miss out on the exciting trails.

The sweat of painstaking labour belongs to the Sarntal Valley like the smallest sprocket on a bike. The breathtaking view of the Dolomites is well deserved. Bikers and hikers have to climb a good 1000 metres in altitude before the rugged peaks take centre stage - and then never let go with their majestic face. Perhaps the most beautiful mountains in the Alps can be seen from the front row in widescreen format. The Peitlerkofel and the Geisler peaks open the panorama on the left edge of the picture, followed by the massive block of the Sella with the striking pyramid of the Piz Boé, then the Langkofel, Plattkofel, Marmolada, the Rosengarten and the Latemar massif.

The mountain range on the eastern side with the Rittner Horn as an outpost stretches for many kilometres up to the Penserjoch high above Sterzing. This is a unique and unspoilt natural landscape, a huge playground for connoisseurs with mountain pastures to stop off at and enchanting places to rest. You almost want to stay up here and watch the sun go down. If only there wasn't another descent on the programme that seems tailor-made for ambitious bikers.
