Germany's downhill ace Marcus Klausmann spends weeks camping near San Remo on the Italian Riviera in spring. The new freeride course on Monte Bignone particularly appeals to him.

I've been coming to San Remo for training in spring for five years now. Although San Remo is actually not quite right. From San Romolo, a small mountain village about 15 kilometres north of San Remo, the narrow asphalt road winds its way up to the summit of Monte Bignone. This 1299 metre high mountain is already considered a "bike park" in the relevant internet forums. Although there is no official shuttle for the two routes. But you definitely need one. Unless you choose a light freeride bike that you can pedal uphill again with a lot of vigour. I sometimes do that when I'm in a good mood. For training purposes. But the road gets pretty steep at the top, where it is particularly exposed to the sun. A real feat of strength.
