The BIKE Marathon on Lake Garda is an institution. In particular, the long distance with the abbreviation "Ronda Extrema" is as legendary as it is feared. Many marathon bikers are more interested in the fun of the ordeal and a few intense hours in the saddle than in a good ranking. The news that the loops around Riva are signposted all year round was a wake-up call from the marathon routine for BIKE editor Stefan Loibl. In autumn 2019, he made the decision to simply set off on his own. No rushing at the start, no race number on the handlebars and no constant calls to get out of the way. Just ride a marathon for a day on the legendary Ronda Extrema. All to yourself. An individual time trial without a stopwatch. You can watch the video here and read the full report in BIKE 5/2020.
As the Ronda Extrema route was revised for 2020, the signposting was still incomplete when we rode it last autumn 2019. The GPS data for the described mountain bike tour "Ronda Extrema 2020" can be found here in the tour portal of the tourism association.
