A flowing single trail for mountain bikers on Brixen's local mountain Plose, scenic mountain pass roads such as those on the Würzjoch or the valley cycle paths of South Tyrol - mountain bikers and leisure cyclists alike are offered a wide range of options. Isarco Valley varied tours. Rustic mountain huts on the mountain or numerous restaurants in the valley offer the best of Alpine-Mediterranean cuisine, from typical South Tyrolean specialities to a fine glass of Eisack Valley white wine, for a refreshing stop in between or to enjoy after the tour. And if you don't want to tackle your bike tour alone: the Bike guides from BrixBike accompany bikers on the most beautiful tours of all levels of difficulty.
The Brennero-Bolzano cycle route runs past Bressanone/Brixen, an almost entirely tarmac cycle path with gentle gradients. With gentle ups and downs, you cycle past the picturesque villages and cultural sights of the Isarco Valley, partly along the River Isarco, through shady forests and past the northernmost vineyards in Italy and the extensive apple orchards. Whether you tackle the 96-kilometre route from the Brenner Pass through the Eisack Valley with its charming small towns of Sterzing, Brixen and Klausen to the South Tyrolean capital of Bolzano in one tour or divide it into several stages is up to the fitness level of each individual. At Franzensfeste, bikers can also switch to the Pustertal Valley cycle path, which leads past Mühlbach and Bruneck to Lienz in Austria. The return journey on a bike tour along the valley cycle paths can be made in comfort using public transport: The Almencard Plus guest card from the Almenregion Gitschberg Jochtal and the BrixenCard from the holiday destination Brixen & Environs allow bikers to use the train and railway free of charge; a fee is required for the bike. Those who are drawn to the mountains for biking, on the other hand, will be delighted by the spectacular Plose Single Trail "Flow 6.6 km". From Brixen, you head to St. Andrä and then take the cable car - one ascent and descent a day is free thanks to the BrixenCard - up to 2050 metres above sea level. This is where the Plose Single Trail starts, which leads from the mountain station of the Plose cable car to the valley station around 1000 metres below. The 6.6-kilometre-long bike route is considered to be particularly flowy, but also offers bike freaks maximum thrills with numerous steep bends. A biking pleasure with a unique panoramic view - and plenty of action, take a look at the video clip:
Before you head down into the valley on the single trail, you can do a completely different bike lap on the Plose: Directly at the mountain station of the Plose cable car is an oversized wooden Plose Looping, where you can perform what is probably the world's highest somersault on an attached mountain bike. If you have a valid cable car ticket, you can try out the upside-down ride in a circle free of charge - registration at the Infoshop is required. How the looping works - take a look:
