Alta Badia presents Dolomites Bike Day
Three passes, three provinces and three Ladin valleys are taking part in the new Dolomites Bike Day. This non-competitive cycling event will take place for the first time on Sunday, 18 June 2017.

The three Dolomite passes Campolongo, Falzarego and Valparola are not only the scene of legendary historic cycling events. They will also be the setting for the first edition of the Dolomites Bike Day play a leading role. Cyclists can take part in this non-competitive event free of charge. This event starts directly at the Puez-Geisler and Fanes-Sennes-Prags nature parks in the heart of the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Site. The route runs in a circle from the start in Alta Badia to Arabba, then into the valley of Livinallongo, crosses the Campolongo Pass and continues to the Falzarego Pass and Valparola Pass, reaching the towns of La Villa and Corvara, where the route comes full circle.

The entire route, which is closed to traffic from 10:00 to 15:00, is 51 kilometres long and has a difference in altitude of 1290 metres. It is recommended to cycle the route anti-clockwise. This route is part of the Maratona dles Dolomites and one of the favourite passages of the world-class riders in the hundredth edition of the Giro d'Italia. The date for this stage is 25 May 2017, and on 18 June 2017, participants in the Dolomites Bike Day will be able to try out the identical route in a relaxed manner and without car traffic, just a few weeks after the world's best racing cyclists were on the road here.

Sellaronda Bike Day and Maratona dles Dolomites

Exactly one week after the Dolomites Bike Day, another cycling highlight awaits on 25 June 2017. The twelfth edition of the Dolomites Bike Day will take place on the passes around the Sella Group. Sellaronda Bike Day takes place. This day is an unforgettable experience for every cyclist. The spectacular pass roads are closed to car traffic from 8.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. and thus reserved for cyclists. This competition is also non-competitive and free for all participants. Finally, on Thursday 2 July 2017, the most famous and coveted long-distance race in Europe is on the programme. The Maratona dles Dolomites-Enel is taking place for the 31st time this year. For three consecutive weekends, the most famous and coveted passes in the Dolomites belong entirely to cyclists.

Bike friendly: Tailor-made cycling holidays for every taste

Summer in Alta Badia offers cyclists an extensive and attractive programme with the most beautiful routes in the heart of the Dolomites. Bike Friendly is the name tourist offer in Alta Badia. It is aimed at both road cyclists and mountain bikers. The Alta Badia tourist board provides road maps with selected routes. And in co-operation with the Cycling school Dolomite Biking organised rides are offered daily for groups or individuals. In addition, there are numerous accommodation establishments that specialise in cyclists, shops with bike hire and sales of spare parts and cycling clothing, restaurants and huts for a wide range of cycling requirements. The "Bike Expert" and "Bike Friendly" accommodation providers have catered for the most diverse requirements of cyclists. These include washing facilities and bike repairs, bike racks, special toolboxes, washrooms and a rich, balanced breakfast, as well as cold platters or cakes in the afternoon for optimum energy supply. The lifts in Alta Badia transport bikes free of charge without surcharges.

Guided MTB tours

In the months of May, June and July, Alta Badia is once again offering Bike Guided Tours. Every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday between 22 May and 16 July 2017, you will have the opportunity to go on tours with local MTB guides. Two different tours with different levels of difficulty are offered every day: "Tour" for experts and "Hobby" for leisure riders. You can register for these tours for 26 euros each at the tourist offices in Alta Badia or at the "Bike Expert" and "Bike Friendly" hotels.

E-bike sharing up on the mountain and down in the valley

The latest e-bikes from the cult brand Pinarello are available for e-bike sharing. Wonderful tours up the mountain to beautiful viewpoints or from village to village down in the valley. Stops at the Movimënt fitness trails are also attractive. E-bike sharing is a highly attractive option for guests who want to experience the beauty of the Dolomites up close with top e-bikes without any great physical effort. The e-bikes are stationed at the cable car mountain stations at Col Alt, Piz La Ila and Piz Sorega as well as in the villages of La Villa, Corvara and La Val. The e-bikes can be picked up and returned at these locations. Pinarello is presenting its first e-bikes in Alta Badia, thereby consolidating its close partnership with Alta Badia.
