5 panoramic tours for mountain bikers in the Dolomites
Fanes Valley, Alpe di Siusi, Pralongià and Val Venegia - Dolomite scenery that you will never forget. Here are five panoramic highlights to savour. Tip: Book with Dolomite classics from Tappeiner Verlag.

As you climb up the steep 400-metre gravel ramp from the Pederü hut, you can already sense that the gateway to paradise is about to open: the Fanes Valley. All of a sudden, the white gravel road eases up and leads through the centre of the Fanes-Sennes-Braies National Park. There is no other valley in the Dolomites where you can get so close to the pale rock towers. Once you have left the Limojoch behind you, there are several options. You can either follow the hut tour via the beautiful Sennesalm, or take the trail over the Col di Locia and then rush down into the valley along the panoramic broad face of the Ampezzo Dolomites. As on most of the major Dolomite tours, you need to be in good physical condition and have solid riding technique on this tour, as steep climbs with rough and deep scree await. However, Mauro Tumler from Merano shows in his book "Mountainbiking in the Dolomites, Volume 1" that there are also easy tours with maximum panoramic views. He reveals five tours from his collection on the following pages.

1st tour around the Kreuzkofel: 56 km / 1850 metres altitude / riding time 5-6 hours.

2. star pralongià: 25 km / 790 m elevation gain / riding time 3-4 hours.

3rd Alpe di Siusi 360°: 35 km > 1200 metres altitude > riding time 5-6 hours.

4th Val Venegia - Segantini hut: 23 km / 700 m elevation gain / riding time 3-4 hours.

5. around the Sassolungo: 43 km / 1600 hm / travelling time 6-8 hours.

Gitta Beimfohr joined the BIKE travel resort during her tourism studies when the Strada delle 52 Gallerie on the Pasubio was closed to mountain bikers. Since Gitta crossed the Alps twice at racing speed, she has favoured multi-day tours - by MTB in the Alps or by gravel bike through the German low mountain ranges.
