2000 metres of the finest flow, 360-degree panorama with Gran Paradiso, Mont Blanc and Matterhorn, trail entrance directly at the summit cross - that's an astonishing number of superlatives, even for the Aosta Valley.

I recommend a relaxed companion for this tour. Someone who has an eye for this prominent panorama and who simply knows how to enjoy this never-ending super flow downhill. I had the "misfortune" of travelling with world champion Nino Schurter and multiple Mégavalanche winner Rémy Absalon. You're practically in the red zone all the time and unfortunately stare far too often at their light-footed, whirring rear wheels. But now that I'm looking at the pictures again and writing this text, I realise that I need to ride the trail again soon. But then in relaxed touring mode.

The tour

If you use the shuttle for the first 900 metres in altitude, the tour has a total of 29.3 km and 1270 metres in altitude. Pure descent: 2102 metres in depth. Shuttle: www.aostavalleyfreeride.com

Stefan Loibl: The BIKE editor is really fit. But Nino Schurter belongs to a completely different league.
