Weekend tip: Jachenau/Walchensee
Dirndls, lederhosen, coarse sayings - the people of Jachen shine with rustic charm. In contrast, nature in Germany's most remote high valley is very gentle. The landscape around Lake Walchensee is wildly romantic and fantastic trails await bikers.

Here is the tour information:

Freeride enthusiasts will find two challenging trails on the Jochberg from the Jachenau via the Jochbergalm: the 451 down to the Kesselberg or the 482 to Sachenbach (please be considerate of hikers). Leisurely entry laps in the Jachenau from Höfen along the rather steep climb towards Rehgraben, then turn right to the 495 to Schronbach (marvellous pools invite you to take a dip). Return via the Isar and back to Jachenau via Rehgraben.

My weekend favourites: The "Benewandrunde" (start Jachenau at the chapel in front of the village towards the waterfall - worth a detour - just before the Glaswandscharte, then take the 477 on the right via the Tanneralm to the Langenecksattel. From here, take the path or gravel track down to Petern), the Luitpolderalm circuit (from Jachenau to the Luitpolderalm then onwards and the rather challenging Fuchsgraben trail to the lake in Niedernach) and the "Knüller":

The Vorderriß loop (from Höfen in the direction of Rehgraben, then keep right past the Reiseralm and left down the brilliant singletrail to Sylvensteinsee. From here to Vorderriß and the toll road towards Wallgau. Take the only gravel path on the right to the Galgenwurfsattel. Then take the lonely path over the Hochkopf and the fllow singletrail 491 behind the lake to Altlach).
