In the short trip section, we present two cycle tours in each region. Perfect for a successful cycling weekend.
Tour 1: Along the Long Rhön , 64 kilometres, 1,100 metres in altitude
After a rather leisurely roll along the tarmac cycle path in the Brendtal valley, a tough tarmac ascent towards Bastheim awaits. The northern half of the route after Oberelsbach is particularly scenic, but also more challenging. If you want to cycle straight home from the northern corner of Schwarzes Moor, take the Hochrhönstraße. Our variant with some natural tracks is more varied. The last five kilometres rush downhill by themselves.
Tour 2: Around the Wasserkuppe , 53 kilometres, 1,000 metres in altitude
Mostly off major asphalt roads, the tour circles the highest mountain in the Rhön, the 950 metre high Wasserkuppe. If you want, you can include it in the tour starting from Abtsroda, but even without the summit, there are enough metres in altitude on the mostly asphalted, mostly tiny roads. The Rote Moor is on the way, and a detour to the 925 metre-high Heidelstein is easily possible - even in the saddle for those who are fit.
