Two day tours through the Lüneburg Heath
The Lüneburg Heath is one of the most popular destinations in northern Germany, especially during the heather blossom in summer. But the beauty of the heath is also worth a visit outside of the flowering season - and the old Hanseatic town of Lüneburg is worth a visit anyway

In the "Short trip" section, we present two day tours in each region. Perfect for a successful cycling weekend.

The GPX tracks are available free of charge on the MYBIKE tour portal:

Tour 1: To the Wilseder Berg

77 km, 620 m elevation gain, max. gradient 4%
Surface: mainly tarmac, sandy or cobbled on the Wilseder Berg and in short forest passages

Leaving the city, you will soon be alternating between low-traffic farm tracks, small roads, forest paths and sometimes roadside cycle paths as far as Undeloh. From there, the car-free route leads towards Wilseder Berg. You hardly notice the gradient, the road with its bumpy cobblestones is shared with horse-drawn carriages, the path with - sometimes unintelligent - pedestrians. Return via Döhle mainly on district roads and tarmac farm tracks.

Tour 2: Monastery circuit

76 km, 640 m elevation gain, max. gradient 3%
Surface: Apart from the forest paths before Bienenbüttel and the path along the Elbe side canal, you cycle almost exclusively on tarmac

Past the Libeskind Building of Leuphana University, after a few kilometres off the main road and onto the cycle path to Bienenbüttel. If you're up for more challenging terrain, take the "Schöne Aussicht" side route through the forest. From Bienenbüttel, the route towards Ebstorf Monastery leads mainly along little roads with little traffic, occasionally on roadside cycle paths along the country road. Behind Medingen Monastery, the route leads to the Elbe side canal, which you follow almost all the way to Lüneburg.
