Both towns offer a wide range of options, from wellness hotels to simple guesthouses.
In the larger towns of Viechtach, Regen, Rinchnach, Spiegelau and Grafenau, you can choose between inns, bakeries and supermarkets. There is nothing in between for long stretches, and some inns are closed at lunchtime during the week. On the third stage along the Ilz, you can stop off at the Schrottenbaummühle and the Ilzstuben (fish restaurant).
If you have more time or are travelling faster, you can add another section from Waldmünchen to Cham to the Pandurensteig (23 km/740 m elevation gain). The Pandurensteig can also be combined with the classic Trans-Bayerwald-Südroute. From Passau via Eging am See, Bischofsmais and Sankt Englmar, you can cycle back to the starting point in 3-4 day stages. The Nurtschweg from Waldsassen through the Upper Palatinate Forest to Waldmünchen can also be used as a further extension of the Pandurensteig.
