The slow-flowing Rott and the wide Inn form the guidelines for the extended day or two-day tour. The adventure tour originally starts in Pfarrkirchen. However, as it is a circular route, you can also easily get on your bike in Bad Birnbach, Bad Füssing or Pocking, for example. If you start in Bad Füssing, the sat nav will point you directly to the Inn. The first recommended stop is the Lower Inn European nature reserve with its information centre in Ering.
The Rottal valley is considered the heart of the Lower Bavarian hill country. However, the River Rott is not particularly long, only around one hundred kilometres. The accompanying cycle path from Velden an der Vils to Neuhaus am Inn is therefore perfect for a sporty e-bike tour or an enjoyable two-day trip. If you don't want to start cycling in the spa triangle, take the Rottalbahn railway (free bike transport) from Bad Birnbach or Karpfham to Neumarkt-St. Veit, the "gateway to the Rottal". Keen cyclists can cycle on from here to the starting point in Velden or to the source of the Rott in Wurmsham, while others can take a shortcut and start their Rottal tour eastwards in Neumarkt-St. Veit.
Fancy something a little more sporty? Then head to the Bruder Konrad! In the south-east of Bad Birnbach, this tour leads along country roads with little traffic and asphalted farm tracks with gradients of up to 20 per cent. No problem for e-bikers, but a challenge without a motor.
From Bad Füssing, we head straight towards the Inn and cycle northwards along the west bank. The interesting Inn towns on the Austrian east bank have to wait for their own themed tour. Via Neuhaus, Vornburg and Neuburg we cycle right into the centre of Passau, where the Danube, Ilz and Inn converge.
Even non-pilgrims will find a cultural and natural experience on this rural route. And you don't have to visit all the parish and pilgrimage churches along the way - even if it would be worthwhile for most of them. The route starts in Bad Griesbach or directly on the Rottal cycle path near Kindlbach.
Although the Bad Füssing cycle route planners have named the tour "Tour Fisch", the highlights include not only the fauna and flora along the river, but also the baroque towns on the Austrian bank of the Inn. At Egglfing, the route therefore crosses the river into the neighbouring country and first heads away from the riverbank briefly up the hill to the market town of Obernberg with its magnificent old town houses in the Inn-Salzach style.
Bad Birnbach, Bad Griesbach, Bad Füssing - all three thermal spas in one go, embedded in an attractive 70-kilometre tour. "The journey is the reward" is the motto of this tour. The focus is on the lovely landscape in the gently rolling hills around Bad Griesbach. It is indeed hilly, but with one exception, the gradients are kept within limits so that you can make good progress even without motorised assistance.
