To eyes spoilt by the Alps, the surrounding area of Bavaria's third largest city appears completely flat. But that's not quite true, as a few hilly landscapes undulate on both sides of the rivers. The locals' favourite spot is the Augsburg Nature Park, better known as the Western Forests. The area, which is criss-crossed by numerous paths, stretches 60 kilometres from north to south. Around 30 kilometres at its widest point. The motto of the Augsburg bikers is therefore: flowing trails with speed instead of metres in altitude. This also applies to the second hotspot, Derchinger Forst in the north-west of the city. And even more so for the trails along the Lech river. Whereby the latter can surprise with a few technical refinements.
