Small but mighty: the Deister trails
The small mountain range near Hanover is only 400 metres high, but has more trails than many Alpine regions.

The tour: A total of 36.4 km | 870 m elevation gain

If you circle the Deister once, the speedometer counts just 100 kilometres. However, if you were to ride all the trails that wind around its 400 metre high peaks, you would have several days in the saddle.

Colleague Stefan Loibl touched the northern German bike area last year on his Germany Trail to Hamburg and met members of Deisterfreun.de e. V. They showed him some, but by no means all, of the highlights of their home territory. The northern lights are now making up for this with this tour. The tour leads over the mountain peaks with the best views. There are plenty of root-covered natural trails up there, but also built lines with names like Ü30 and Ladies only. The latter surprises with two doubles and a view as far as Hanover.

From there, take the trail eastwards, climbing towards Bielstein, continuing over the Ebersberg and along the main ridge path towards Hohe Warte.
