Small and fine: Bikepark Samerberg
The small park is located close to the Munich-Salzburg motorway, in the Chiemgau mountains, where Germany is at its most beautiful.

It was built in 2010 and soon tested by us. At the time, we had a few things to criticise, but the trail builders took the test seriously, took the criticism constructively and made improvements. The result: more flow, less risk, more fun. This leads to a better rating. Nevertheless, the park is small with only one trail (plus a few variants) and the 1-seater chairlift is so slow that a quick up and down is slowed down.

The routes

The Rocky Mountain Bikepark Samerberg offers a main trail that is around 2.1 kilometres long and, according to the operator, is peppered with 44 bends and 18 jumps. It runs sometimes in the forest, sometimes openly across the meadow, mostly on crushed sand. The trail builders have made exemplary improvements: since our first test, for example, the forest drop has been renovated so that it can now be jumped smoothly - good approach, wide landing. In addition to the difficult wooden wave, there is now an easy wooden wave for beginners. The tricky and too steep wall rides have also been given more inclination. The operators have increased the stunt density, for example with a well-built wooden step-up, wooden landing, table jumps and drops at different heights. The park thus manages the balancing act: it is fun for beginners (all stunts can be bypassed), but offers enough challenges for advanced riders. Special feature: You can alternatively pedal the 220 metres in altitude yourself, which takes only slightly longer than the chairlift, unless you are on a big bike - and you only need that for the 5-metre gap.
