The new MTB trail network in the Franconian Rhön has been opened. It took more than seven years to get there, but now the goal has been achieved. Last year, we introduced the various parties involved in the flagship project as part of our campaign LOVE TRAILS - RESPECT RULES and asked about the current status. You can read the report in full length here.
Now five signposted MTB trails, ranging in length from 17 to 59 kilometres, wind their way through the Rhön, freshly marked with a small white mountain biker and the respective trail number on a red background. The project was ground-breaking because this was the first time in Bavaria that a district authority had assumed liability for the trails and co-operated extremely well with the Bavarian State Forests. The project from the Rhön is therefore repeatedly cited by all sides as a prime example of MTB-friendly regional development, which other regions are already emulating.
