In Germany's northernmost wine-growing region on the Saale and Unstrut rivers, the vines grow mainly for excellent Pinot Blanc and Müller-Thurgau. The famous Rotkäppchen sparkling wine is produced in Freyburg. More than 40 wineries, the Freyburg Winegrowers' Association, the Kloster Pforta State Winery and the Rotkäppchen sparkling wine cellars invite you to taste their wines.
The Saale-Unstrut-Elster-Radacht is well signposted and runs on designated, paved cycle paths as well as side roads, field and forest paths. If you don't want to tackle the large cycle route all at once, you can split the tour into an eastern route (109 kilometres) and a western route (77 kilometres), for example.
