Saxony's Minister of the Interior and Sport, Markus Ulbig, took the opportunity to open the Rabenberg Trail Centre. Germany's first MTB single trail park. Unlike in other German federal states, Saxony's minister stands by the bikers and he was delighted that this facility has strengthened the Rabenberg's outstanding position as a location for sporting activities of all kinds. "Now bikers can officially ride the 20 kilometres of single trails that have been created in the forests around the Rabenberg since August 2012," said Ulbig.
The trail park is located near Breitenbrunn in the Western Ore Mountains.
Following the model from Scotland
Instead of just shovelling a downhill trail into the flanks of the Rabenberg, they are following the example of Scotland. There, bikers of all abilities can ride hundreds of kilometres in trail parks - uphill and downhill and with the whole family. On the Rabenberg, four loops between six and 25 kilometres are seamlessly signposted to offer beginners and families as well as experienced mountain bikers plenty of riding fun. In total, the entire route network to around 50 kilometres and thus offers biking fun for several days. Despite the cool temperatures, around 350 bikers didn't let the opening weekend hold them back and were out and about on the various laps.
