Character
An easy cycle tour for virtually everyone. The route is asphalted throughout, well signposted and largely avoids general road traffic. The wind "almost always" comes from the west. The only metres of elevation gain are on the ramps up to the dykes. This means: enjoyable cycling at its best, very easy to combine with the German railway. Don't forget your swimming trunks!

Journey
Friedrichstadt is very easy to reach by train: http://www.bahn.deThe return journey from Sylt with the Schleswig-Holstein ticket (max. 5 people) is also a favourable alternative. Bikes cost 3.50 euros extra.
Best time to travel
May to September, but it can also be windy and cool in August!
Bike shops and repairs
There are well-stocked specialist bike shops with workshops in the larger towns and on all the islands. There are also bike hire shops at all tourist hubs (railway stations and harbours), most of which also offer service.
