On the Wern cycle path from Gemünden to the mouth of the Main
Cycling by the river is the motto. The lifeline in Franconian wine country is the Main, which flows in wide loops over 120 kilometres through the hilly region.

According to the ADFC, the accompanying Main Cycle Route is one of Germany's five-star routes with excellent infrastructure. The Main route can be combined very well with routes into the valleys of the tributaries, such as the Wern and Tauber, or with the 263 kilometre long-distance cycle route "From the Main to the Rhön". What you can usually see on tour are castles and palaces, churches and lots of Franconian half-timbered houses.

Character:

The five-star route of the Main Cycle Path, which winds its way through the region for many kilometres, forms the centrepiece for cyclists. There are also many other routes of all levels of difficulty, from family-friendly to very sporty, especially in the low mountain regions.

Tour tip: Wernradweg, 78 km, easy

Route: Gemünden - Gössenheim - Eußenheim - Arnstein - Werneck -Bergrheinfeld - Geldersheim - Niederwerrn - Poppenhausen

The Wern Cycle Route runs from the source of the Wern to its confluence with the Main with almost no inclines and is therefore also suitable for families and leisure cyclists. You cycle almost exclusively on designated field and cycle paths. Including sightseeing, two to three day stages are recommended.
