It starts on the Rhine, where Margrave Karl Wilhelm found his final resting place in the 18th century, in Karlsruhe, the second largest city in Baden-Württemberg. From there, the Stromberg-Murrtal cycle route connects picturesque river valleys, idyllic half-timbered towns and wine villages, two nature parks and two UNESCO World Heritage Sites. We cycle through the northern foothills of the Black Forest, through the Pfinztal and Enztal valleys and through the Stromberg-Heuchelberg Nature Park to the vineyards in the Neckar Valley. The small river Murr finally leads us through the Swabian-Franconian Forest Nature Park to the river Kocher in Gaildorf.
The cycle route is almost entirely asphalted and runs mainly on farm tracks, occasionally on quiet country roads. Some basic fitness is required for the one or other easy to medium gradient. If you wish, you can also start your tour in Gaildorf in the opposite direction. The Stromberg-Murrtal cycle path is signposted in both directions.
Journey:
The starting point in Karlsruhe is well integrated into the DB network. The destination of Gaildorf am Kocher is also easily accessible by train. The return journey to Karlsruhe takes a good two hours with one change of trains.
