Germany Trail enters second round
Local history by mountain bike: BIKE is launching the second round of the Deutschland Trail and is sending an editor from west to east across Germany in 2019 - in search of single trails.

From the border triangle near Aachen to the Großer Arber, the king of the Bavarian Forest: from May 2019, BIKE editor Stefan Loibl will be travelling across Germany on his mountain bike for the "Deutschland-Trail" project - in search of the best single trails. Following the successful south-north tour in 2017, when Loibl covered 1677 kilometres from the edge of the Alps to Hamburg and was accompanied by many readers, the Germany Trail so 2019 is the second round. And why once again? Because we know that Germany is the No. 1 holiday destination for almost 60 per cent of our readers. We are also impressed by the interactive concept. Because you can be part of it! Follow his tour via live tracking on the BIKE website or BIKE's social media channels, give tips on the best route or simply accompany him on a section yourself if he passes near you.

The planned route leads from west to east across Germany. Over well-known low mountain peaks such as the Gr. Feldberg, the Ochsenkopf and the Gr. Arber and past biking hotspots such as Bonn, Willingen, Frankfurt and Würzburg.

The planned route at Komoot

To plan a rough route, Stefan used the tour planner of the

used. It contains thousands of GPS data for trails, highlights and tours, which served as the basis for his route through Germany. Here's the result: after a day in the Eifel, he heads past Bonn to the Hochsauerland to the BIKE Festival in Willingen. From there to the MTB mecca of Winterberg. Over the Rothaargebirge and the Westerwald to the Dünsberg. From there through the Taunus and finally up the Großer Feldberg. The finish of the first part is in the Bad Orb trail centre in Spessart. The second part starts in July 2019 and ends at the Großer Arber in the Bavarian Forest. However, this route is by no means fixed, it only serves as a rough guide. Support Stefan in planning the route or accompany him, because he can only find the most beautiful trails with the help of local bikers! To find out more about the route, simply follow him at
