Germany-Spotguide St. Wendel
St. Wendel, the starting ramp - nine towns hosted the BIKE Trans Germany. But during the race, many an exciting trail remained unridden. We make up for this - with the St. Wendel spot guide.

The theme of believability and unbelievability runs like a red thread through my visit to the west of the republic. Back in Sankt Wendel, the starting point of our tours, I meet up with Stefan, Dave and Detlef. They occasionally come over for a bike tour from Kusel, which is only a few kilometres away but already in Rhineland-Palatinate. Nevertheless, I hope that the three bikers will give me further insights into the trails, but also about the way of life of the people in this corner of our country. The first thing that turns out to be true is an implausibility of the first order. When asked about the culinary preferences of the Saarlanders, I was shockingly unanimous in naming meat sausage with Maggi. Everyone can imagine for themselves how it tastes. Fortunately, there are also more biker-friendly dishes on the regional menu. For example, "Dibbelabbes", which in High German is a potato casserole with bacon. It is also true that Sankt Wendel, the starting point of our tours, can confidently be described as a cycling-crazy town.

You can find these mountain bike tours around St. Wendel in the PDF download:

1st Schaumberg tour (36.3 km | 980 m elevation gain | 3 h 15 min.)
2nd Bostalsee tour (36.91 km | 562 m elevation gain | 3 h 00 min.)
3rd Ostertal Tour (23 km | 581 m elevation gain | 2 h 20 min.)
