Germany: Oberhof in the Thuringian Forest
Rennsteig, biathlon, bike flying and, for the last two years, also a Trans-Germany stage location: In Oberhof, bikers thread their way through the most beautiful trails of the Thuringian Forest and collect plenty of metres in altitude.

From Eisenach to Blankenstein in the northern Franconian Forest, the Rennsteig runs for 168 kilometres right through the Thuringian Forest. Oberhof lies pretty much right in the middle. Where the path is most beautiful, the people of Oberhof would naturally say. And somehow they are right, because it soon becomes clear that the Rennsteig is by no means just for getting fit and has many scenic attractions to offer. Stefan loves the Rennsteig and raves about the complete tour he once did with his boys. They had everything with them: Tent and food were transported in a trailer and a campfire was lit in the evening. But for this bright day, Stefan has chosen the reservoir circuit and we soon set off from the high trail into the first valley. The Schmalwasser dam is also the largest of the tour and the lake impresses with its wild and romantic beauty.
