The Kampenwand in Chiemgau is one of the great touring challenges: steep climbs, fantastic views and demanding trails - a must for every mountain biker. (BIKE 5/2004)

The tour books are unanimous: the Kampenwand is one of the absolute classics of the Bavarian Alps. 27 kilometres, 1.6 kilometres of which are on single trails, 1400 metres in altitude, several huts for refreshments and beautiful views. That's what it says. But where does it say that you release happiness hormones uncontrollably on the one and a half kilometres of single trail? That the view over Lake Simssee and Lake Chiemsee will give even the most hardened bikers goosebumps? And that the streams of tourists near the mountain railway can make you really angry?
