From sea to sea
"Pötte kieken" - looking at ships is one of the main attractions on the Kiel Canal. More than a hundred ocean liners take the shortcut between the North and Baltic Seas every day. If you want to cycle the entire 325 kilometres with your family, you have a full-blown cycle tour ahead of you.

The flat canal route through Schleswig-Holstein's charming hinterland is also worthwhile in shorter stages. The locks, tunnels and a total of ten bridges and 14 (free) canal ferries, including the world-famous transporter bridge in Rendsburg, also make the route interesting. There are also stately manor houses and country estates along the way.
