Five lakes plus
The Fünfseenland region just outside Munich is a picture-postcard landscape in Upper Bavaria. If you plan your cycle tour skilfully, you will end up with not just five, but almost twenty lakes.

South of the Bavarian capital, the Fünfseenland region stretches out with gentle moraine hills, deep blue waters and views of the Alps. In addition to Starnberger See, Ammersee, Wörthsee, Pilsensee and Weßlinger See, there are other lakes that can be combined into an interesting cycle tour. The route described extends to the Lech in the west and the Isar in the east, covering 293 kilometres. The route is flat along the lakes and rivers, with some steep climbs in between. If you wish, you can cover individual sections of the route by boat. Info at
www.seenschifffahrt.de

Journey
To reach the start and end point of the circular tour, Weßling, take the train to Munich Central Station and from there take the S8 to
Weßling, information under www.bahn.de.
If you are travelling by car, you should first drive to Munich and from there take the A 96 (Munich - Lindau) for around 20 kilometres to Weßling.
