The Uckermark, a historical landscape within Brandenburg, lies to the north-east of Berlin across to the German-Polish border with the Oder as the border river - although a small part in the north-west belongs to Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The slightly hilly terminal moraine landscape is dotted with pretty little historic towns such as Templin and Angermünde, dreamy villages with imposing brick or fieldstone churches. Numerous lakes throughout the region invite you to take a refreshing dip.
The MYBIKE route is around 330 kilometres long, runs almost exclusively along quiet side roads and well-maintained cycle paths and is mostly very well signposted. The climbs are not worth mentioning, only in the Feldberg lake district is it a little steeper at times.
The GPX track is available free of charge on the MYBIKE tour portal:
Arrival
By train: From Berlin main station, the regional express train takes approx. 50 minutes to Eberswalde.
By car: You can reach the starting point in Eberswalde by turning off the BAB 10 north of Berlin onto the BAB 11 towards Stettin/Eberswalde. Then take exit 12 Finowfurt and follow the B 167 to Eberswalde.
Worth seeing
Templin, also known as the "Pearl of the Uckermark", is the small town where Angela Merkel grew up. The medieval town wall with its so-called Wiekhäuser is particularly worth seeing.
Angermünde with its historic half-timbered houses and Prenzlau with its central gate tower and the gigantic St Mary's Church as well as the Museum of Cultural History in the Dominican monastery are also worth a stop.
Boitzenburg Castle, built in the neo-Renaissance style, is literally outstanding in the Boitzenburg region. In the information centre in the Blumberger Mühle mill, you can learn all kinds of interesting facts about the Schorfheide-Chorin biosphere reserve, which is also home to the former Cistercian monastery of Chorin, one of the most outstanding examples of northern German brick Gothic architecture.

Food and drink
Regional products are served in the country inns. In Temmen-Ringenwalde, the inns "Zum grünen Baum" and "Zur Eisenbahn" are two highly recommended addresses, where traditional dishes such as "Kardümzel" are served - rabbit fricassee with prunes, sultanas and parsley potatoes. Don't be surprised: Potatoes have always been called noodles in the Uckermark. In Lychen, Storch beer is brewed according to traditional brewing methods.
