The route then follows the Great Bockau upstream and, after a challenging climb, reaches the top of the pass behind Oberwildenthal, the former border crossing. From there, the route descends via Jeleni into the Rolava valley to Nové Hamry. The ascent to Tisová is rewarded with a view of Nejdek Castle. Via Nová Role and Stará Role you finally roll into the spa town of Karlovy Vary.
The Karlovy Vary route (60 km, 800 metres in altitude; 160 km with side routes) runs along cycle paths and moderately busy roads.
