Brewery and beer cellar tour in Franconia
No other German region has more breweries. Cycle tour through the Steigerwald and Franconian Switzerland.

It is not without reason that the region around Bamberg and Forchheim is known as the beer country of Upper Franconia. A unique abundance of small private breweries can be visited along the 200 kilometres of the mid-mountain range - with numerous types of beer served in shady beer cellars. Nowhere else in the world is there a greater density of breweries.

The entire route is signposted in both directions with a beer mug under a tree.

The breweries and beer cellars tour leads mainly along low-traffic side roads and tarmac cycle paths, occasionally also along country lanes and forest tracks. The real connoisseurs take five to six days to complete the tour. For a taster tour, we recommend the designated short version of 61 kilometres from Bamberg via Hallstadt to Schönbrunn and back via Pettstadt. The all-clear for non-beer drinkers and culture fans: the tour also includes the Bamberg World Heritage Site with its cathedral, the Levi-Strauss Museum in Buttenheim and the Imperial Palace in Forchheim.
