Bikepark Bischofsmais in the big comparison test
The park in the Bavarian Forest can't keep up with the big Alpine parks in terms of altitude metres. However, it shines with its varied and well thought-out routes.

The park in the Bavarian Forest is one of the oldest bike parks in Germany. The park on the Geißkopf - a two-hour drive from Munich - opened back in 1999. With an altitude difference of 260 metres, it is rather small. But thanks to the wide range of trails on offer, the park on the Geißkopf has a large fan club and is also one of our favourites. There are five main trails. The crowd favourite is the flow country trail. The name says it all. It provides fun for all skill levels and is even suitable for children. The trail undulates flowingly down the mountain, is never steep and is packed with berms and small jumps, which can also be rolled. Stunt freeriders choose the Evil Eye. A northshore descent peppered with well-built drops, wallrides and step-ups. Downhill riders appreciate the Downhill. A very challenging descent with big jumps and lots of stone steps. Downhill beginners prefer to ride the Freeride. The name is deceptive - the descent is more of a tame downhill than a freeride route. Great: the fourcross descent in the lower third and the sample table line near the hire station.

Conclusion Small but mighty! Successful bike park with a varied range of trails. Bischhofsmais is one of our favourites. Thumbs up!

Born in South Baden, Laurin Lehner is, by his own admission, a lousy racer. Maybe that's why he is fascinated by creative, playful biking. What counts for him is not how fast you get from A to B, but what happens in between. Lehner writes reports, interviews scene celebrities and tests products and bikes - preferably those with a lot of suspension travel.
