With its technical routes, Hahnenklee offers advanced freeriders good entertainment for a day. The steepness, coupled with the roots, causes problems for beginners.

As in all parks in the Harz Mountains, the ratio of roots per metre ridden is enormous. Only a few passages allow the forearms to recover a little, especially on the two single trails. In combination with the steep gradient, which decreases in the lower third, this is not a good condition for beginners. However, there are no real shockers. Experienced riders use the roots as kickers.

The routes

Once you have explored the park, you are quickly limited to two routes: the freeride course (approx. 1.2 kilometres) and the downhill course (approx. 1 kilometre). The latter is quite easy to ride. Unfortunately, you are currently wasting some valuable metres in altitude in a fun-free fall line. However, this temporary problem should be resolved before the end of the year. Then a new chairlift will also reduce the slightly longer waiting time (max. 15 minutes) on sunny weekends.

A nice change from the two main courses is the approximately 500 metre long and safely constructed Northshore course, which is designed for beginners and advanced riders. The obstacles on the other courses are also safe (with a few exceptions), even if you sometimes end up in the shallows. Unfortunately, Hahnenklee does not offer a usable jump line, drop battery or slopestyle elements. Bear in mind: After long periods of rain, the Bocksberg takes quite a long time to dry out.
