Rally legend Walter Röhrl knows every trail in his home region of the Bavarian Forest. The Mühlgraben trail circuit is the classic in the portfolio and has everything the region has to offer.

The Bavarian Forest is my home. I've been almost everywhere in the world, but my favourite place to come home to is St. Englmar. On a good day, you can see as far as the Alps, 300 kilometres away. In winter, I can go ski touring and cross-country skiing here, and there's even a small ski area on the Pröller. And as long as there is no snow, i.e. from mid-March to December, we have a real biking paradise here. We were the first in the Bavarian Forest to signpost trails for bikers. Unfortunately, I don't get to cycle as often as I used to. As a Porsche representative and test driver, I'm on the road 200 days a year. In my active days as a rally driver, I used to ride my racing bike a lot. Back then, when we did set-up runs for the racing car, it meant testing for three laps and then waiting a long time for the mechanics to implement my change requests. I always used this idle time to ride my bike around the race track. That added up to 12,000 kilometres a year. I've even pedalled over Alpine passes with Tour de France stars like Eddy Merckx or Klaus Peter Thaler.

I'm always happy when I'm back home and go out on the trails with my friends Walter and Heiner as often as I can. The Mühlgraben circuit is 24 kilometres long and has an elevation gain of around 630 metres. It is varied and offers everything that makes a biker happy.
