The Moselle cycle path between Metz and Koblenz is around 300 kilometres long. The quality of the routes is above average, especially in Germany. There are rarely any unpaved or poorly passable stretches, and the Moselle Cycle Path mostly runs on tarmac roads and cycle paths.
If the traffic noise along a busy road becomes too much, you can take a bridge or ferry to the other bank. The Moselle valley is characterised by steep slopes, which are mainly covered in vines. This picturesque landscape is complemented by pretty wine-growing villages, half-timbered towns, Roman buildings and many castles.
Tip: From May to October, numerous passenger boats operate on the Moselle, which can be used to cover part of the route. For information, contact the Moselle tourist office on 06531/97330, www.mosellandtouristik.de
