The bike park in the Vosges, about an hour's drive from Freiburg, has done a lot right. Even after the first descent, you realise: Trail builders who know their trade were at work here.

The result: a very versatile park with well-built jumps and drops. A fast 6-seater chairlift takes bikers to the top. From here, six trails of different ability levels lead down into the valley. The beginners' trail Le Easy flows down the slope on smooth clay soil and is full of small but well-built fun stunts. The Le Cool descent, on the other hand, is more natural and singletrack. The routes marked in red are aimed at advanced riders and park freeriders. Our absolute favourite: Le Fat. The descent has many well-built stunts that generate airtime. Bikers who like root descents are in the right place on Le Root. Downhillers look forward to gliding at high speed over root fields and stone fields on the Le Nuts route towards the valley station. We say: thumbs up. However, there is one catch: the park is only open on public holidays and at weekends. What a pity!

Conclusion Very successful bike park with a wide range of trails, but the opening times are annoying.

PLUS Variety of routes, suitable for families, Le Fat freeride route, inexpensive
MINUS Only open at weekends, often overcrowded

Born in South Baden, Laurin Lehner is, by his own admission, a lousy racer. Maybe that's why he is fascinated by creative, playful biking. What counts for him is not how fast you get from A to B, but what happens in between. Lehner writes reports, interviews scene celebrities and tests products and bikes - preferably those with a lot of suspension travel.
