Unfortunately, cycling is forbidden in Venice, which makes little sense. But the lagoon city is definitely not to be missed. After visiting the World Heritage Site, take the ferry to Punta Sabbioni to start your Adriatic cycle tour. The lively seaside resorts of Jesolo and Caorle form the prelude. Don't forget your swimsuit! The route then turns slightly inland to Roman ruins and historic towns such as Palmanova and Aquileia before reaching the Adriatic again on the Grado peninsula. After the harbour town of Trieste, the route leaves Italy and crosses over into Slovenia. Via the traditional seaside resort of Portoroz, you finally reach the Croatian destination of Poreç. The first three days are mostly flat through the Venetian and Friulian plains, while the last three stages are a little more hilly. All in all, an easy-category cycle tour.
