Slovenia: Soca Valley
The paths of the Julian Alps are as pristine as the Soca. But now there is a guide for bikers. The authors show two of their dream tours.

The panorama is stunning: To the south, the flattening foothills of the mountains stretch towards the Adriatic Sea and to the north, the limestone walls of the Julian Alps with Kanin and Slovenia's national symbol, the Triglav. To the west, the view extends across the Friuli plain to the Dolomites. Below, in the deeply incised valley, winds the emerald-coloured ribbon of the Soca, which has made the valley famous among white water sports enthusiasts and anglers throughout Europe. We also want to return to the banks of the river and already know of several possible descents - but this time we choose an unknown branch.
