You won't find these European tours on any other tour portal: six long-distance routes across Germany or to the Atlantic, the Mediterranean or the Black Sea on certified tracks. More than 17,000 kilometres in total!
Weeks of planning have gone into our six Trans-Europe routes. Like a large jigsaw puzzle, we have put together existing route sections and added missing sections ourselves. Your advantage? You don't have to spend hours at your computer searching for the right routes on various tour portals or in piles of travel guides. All you have to do is load the tracks onto your GPS device or smartphone and set off!
Our planning was based on the routes already stored in our tour portal by the TREKKINGBIKE travel authors. Digital maps, on which the major long-distance cycle routes and Eurovelo routes are already marked, were also a great planning aid.
The Eurovelo network consists of 15 long-distance cycle routes that will connect the European continent once completed in 2020 (www.eurovelo.com/de). Some of the routes, especially in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France, have already been developed and signposted as cycle paths in an exemplary manner. However, when travelling to Spain, Italy or Eastern European countries, the cycle path network becomes very thin and you cannot rely on continuous signposting there.
With a GPS device and the routes we have mapped out, you are on the safe side. Wherever possible, we have planned the tours on existing cycle paths. However, especially in the conurbations around large cities such as Paris, Naples and Rijeka, heavy car traffic can become a burden and busy roads cannot be avoided from time to time.
Insider tips from experienced touring cyclists will help you here and supplement our tour suggestions on the following pages to create a competent guide for your European cycling adventure. All you have to do is cycle yourself!
