The island of Cyprus in the eastern Mediterranean beckons with the best cycling infrastructure. A tip for a summery start to the new season is the bike station run by Swiss cyclist Thomas Wegmüller in the idyllic Pissouri Bay. From here you can set off directly into the secluded but mountainous hinterland. Light fitness bikes with a good gear ratio should be reserved.
