Two exclusive days in the mountain bike paradise of Telemark, Norway, together with Norrøna ambassadors Rémy Métailler, Geoff Gulevich and Joline Johansson. Sounds like a plan? Ok, let's go! From 8 to 10 May 2024, Norrøna is offering the opportunity to go on a trip to the Canvas Camp. Participants will have the opportunity to bike on slickrock trails, test Norrøna equipment and experience the camp, which is absolutely worth seeing. Norrøna also promises a few surprises! Perhaps a few of the famous Norwegian trolls?
This is not entirely unlikely, as Canvas Camp is located two kilometres from the nearest public road and seven kilometres from the nearest residential area: Treungen. It is a unique place that offers real experiences and adventures that you are unlikely to find anywhere else. Surrounded by over 100 kilometres of slickrock, connected by single trails - in the middle of the wilderness. A paradise for all outdoor enthusiasts and mountain bike fans.
The trails are designed so that both MTB beginners can have fun and experienced bikers can improve their skills. Experienced guides are on hand to help with technique and safety. There are many trails with varying terrain. There are also several sections along long streams that are fun even if you "just" want to ride your bike.
At first glance, the Canvas Hotel is reminiscent of a safari lodge in much more southerly climes. Traditional Kyrgyz yurt-style tents and specially designed house tents made of hard-wearing canvas make up Camp Telemark. Small bridges connect the hotel with paths on both sides of the island, so that cycle tours can start directly from the site.
Wake up to the chirping of birds and the morning light flooding the yurt. Alongside the programme, you'll enjoy the sociable and relaxed lounge and campfire areas. Meals are inspired by the simplicity of camp life and prepared on wood-fired cookers and barbecues. After the MTB tours, you can relax in the spa and sauna. The technology is also taken care of: participants can prepare their bikes for the next day's ride in a fully equipped workshop.
The programme almost sounds like "eat - bike - sleep - repeat"
The price per person for two days Norrøna Canvas Camp is the equivalent of around 781 euros. This includes: Accommodation, all meals, mountain bike guide, presentations, testing of Norrøna products, coaching from the brand ambassadors and a Norrøna goodie bag. At Canvas Camp, guests stay in yurts with two or three beds. The price for a single yurt is the equivalent of 812 euros.
It is also possible to hire an e-mountain bike if required - which is almost more sensible if you are travelling by plane from Germany: price per day 96 euros.
All yurts are equipped with toilets, wood-burning stoves and Hästens beds. The hotel has two water jug showers, 10 baths and a sauna for 14 people.

The Canvas Camp is an "off grid" paradise. In concrete terms, this means that the yurts have been placed on stilts along the rocky slopes. There is no infrastructure here. The location in Norway was built in such a way that its traces disappear when it is dismantled. Solar panels, gas and wood burning are the main sources of heat and food preparation. Electricity for charging mobile phones or PCs is only available in the communal areas, but not in the yurts themselves.
The kitchen at Canvas Telemark is just as unique as the rest of this remote retreat. Without a conventional oven or ceramic hob, the chefs at the camp rely on the simplicity and character of a more classic way of preparing food on the fire.
Norrøna Adventure, part of the Norrøna Group, focuses on creating customised travel experiences. These include exciting adventures in nature for customers. Travellers have the opportunity to design their trip entirely according to their own ideas, for example by deciding whether they want to travel with a guide, how long the trip should last and whether they want to be involved in planning the programme. This means that individual needs can be taken into account and nothing stands in the way of an unforgettable holiday.
The Total Mountain Bike Experience at Canvas Camp is just one example of Norrøna Adventure's extensive offering, which also includes activities such as hiking, skiing and snowboarding, mountaineering, dog sledding and much more. With a constant stream of new destinations throughout Norway, the company not only offers the right clothing for all of this, but also a wide range of travel options.
