New cycle paths around Lake Balaton
The infrastructure for cyclists is currently being improved with newly signposted cycle paths, particularly on the western bank of the Balaton.

Hungary is developing into a cycling country. Five new cycle paths are being added to the existing eight. The highlight is the "Balaton Körut". The 210 km long cycle route around Lake Balaton is well signposted. It leads along tarmac cycle paths and quiet, flat side roads directly past the most beautiful beaches and through the country's vineyards. The world's largest thermal lake, Hévíz, is also located along the route. The minerals in the water and the mud at the bottom of the lake have a healing effect on chronic inflammatory diseases of the joints. The boats on Lake Balaton take bikes, so the tour can be shortened as required. Rental stations for one-way hire are available at the tourist offices on western Lake Balaton. http://west-balaton.hu/de/kereparkolcsonzes
