Montenegro - you've heard it before. But where is it? It's not so easy to find the country in the atlas. Even the first part of its name sounds very promising, the second part rather mystical: Black Mountain ... So, first turn to the page with the Balkans. Now let's continue with the magnifying glass: Serbia, Bosnia, the Adriatic, let's see ... Ah, here it is! Wow, the whole region is coloured orange. The colour stands for an altitude of 2000 metres above sea level! The small country is around 1500 kilometres away from Poland. That might be too much for dad's 20-year-old Jetta, my friend Dominika points out. Oh well, he'll manage and the big advantage of this old car is that nobody will steal it from us in these foreign mountains ...
As an editor at Poland's oldest cycling magazine Bike-Board, I'm on my bike all year round. So I should at least do something different on holiday. But I have to be honest: I'm addicted. No desire for a beach holiday. I can only really switch off when I'm in the saddle of my enduro bike. And if there's an exciting new terrain on top of that, it's pure relaxation for me. And is there anything more adventurous than spontaneously travelling to a completely unknown country?
Immediately after the Montenegrin border, we follow the first valley cut inland and reach the country's most famous mountain region: the Durmitor massif.
