The Hamburg-Berlin long-distance cycle route is made up of sections of various long-distance cycle routes, such as the Elbe, Havel and Havelland cycle routes. With very few exceptions, there are hardly any major inclines along the almost 400 kilometres. The route starts along the Elbe on well-maintained riverside and embankment paths. A highlight for nature lovers is the Elbe Landscape Biosphere Reserve. In the small town of Havelberg, where the Havel flows into the Elbe, long-distance cyclists switch to the Havel cycle path. In the Westhavelland Nature Park, the route then turns onto the Havelland Cycle Route to the outskirts of Berlin. Of course, many routes lead through the capital. A tip: follow the signs for the Berlin Wall Cycle Route and then the Berlin-Copenhagen long-distance cycle route into the city centre. Incidentally, there is no separate signposting for the Hamburg-Berlin cycle route, nor is there a standardised logo. However, the long-distance cycle routes that make up the tour are all very well signposted.
