Jérôme Clementz was one of the best downhill and enduro riders, including overall winner of the very first Enduro World Series. He ended his competitive career in 2018 to find time for other bike projects - and his son Emil. He now enjoys long discovery tours with his wife, world-class Enduro rider Pauline Dieffenthaler - and also enjoys doing so on an e-MTB. The couple make their home in Alsace, not far from the Rhine and the German border, at the foot of the Vosges mountains. The picturesque low mountain range is known for its open mountain ridges and dense forests, wild rivers, secluded lakes and good food. Jérôme is also aware of the dense network of tours and trails, but when he discovers that Bosch has 40 e-MTB charging stations scattered across the massif, he has an idea - as his wife Pauline explains ...
The precinct
The Vosges is a low mountain range covering 6900 square kilometres not far from the German border between Alsace and Lorraine. The mountain range is varied, with round summits as well as bizarre, colourful rock formations.
The route
Jérôme and Pauline's Transvosges route covered 185 kilometres and 5100 metres in altitude. Over the three days of the tour, they spent an average of four to five hours in the saddle and recharged their batteries a total of five times. The couple set up their own e-bike hire company in spring 2019, where they also offer detailed advice and provide guides: www.ebikealsace.com
There is also an official route, the Traversée du Massif des Vosges à VTT, which leads through the Vosges on signposted routes: www.tmv-alsace-vtt.com/
The charging stations
The Vosges are a Bosch showcase project. Over 40 charging stations are spread across the low mountain range. They can be found at www.bosch-ebike.com/de/ebike-erleben/storys/powerstations
