Bohemian Switzerland, or "České Švýcarsko" in Czech, is the eastern sister of Saxon Switzerland, so to speak. The Elbe Sandstone Mountains with their bizarre rock formations extend on both sides of the Elbe between our start and finish in Děčín (Tetschen-Bodenbach) in the south and Pirna in Saxony in the north, with the MYBIKE route running almost exclusively on the Czech side.
The MYBIKE route leads along cycle paths, disused railway lines and small, low-traffic roads. If you are really fit, you can tackle the tour on a trekking bike, otherwise an e-bike is highly recommended. It is not uncommon to have to scramble up longer climbs of more than ten per cent; over a distance of around 240 kilometres, you will cover almost 3,000 metres in altitude. Only on the first day on the cycle path out of Děčín is the route partly on gravel paths, otherwise it is all on fairly good tarmac roads.
