End-of-season events at the bike parks: Final runs and massive closing parties

What?! The season’s over already? Not quite yet. But things will gradually wind down from the end of October: the first bike parks are closing their doors. To make sure you don’t miss any of the big end-of-season parties or the last run of the season, here’s an overview of the major bike park closing-down events for 2026 in Germany and Austria:

Season finale at Germany’s bike parks

​The 6 bike parks in the Harz:

• ​Bodetal Bike Park (Thale): 24 October
• Racepark Schulenberg: The last day of operation is expected to be 24 October.
• Braunlage Bike Park (Wurmberg): Early November
• Hahnenklee Bike Park (Bocksberg): Early November
• MSB-X-Trail Bike Park, St Andreasberg: 1 November
• Harz Trail Park: The park, which is not linked to any cable cars, is accessible almost all year round, weather permitting.

​Winterberg Bike Park: “"October or November" – that’s when the Winterbergers close up shop. It just depends on the wind and weather. Information: bikepark-winterberg.de

Samerberg Bike Park: Traditionally, the bike park closes for the season on the first weekend in November. But it does so with a lively, boisterous season-closing weekend. Information: bikepark-samerberg.de

​Oberammergau Bike Park: “Until the start of November” is the official line. However, depending on the weather and snow cover, the operators are very happy to extend the season. bikepark-oberammergau.de

​Ochsenkopf Bike Park: The final takes place on 8 November. The Bullheadhouse Bike Park opened some new bike park lines at the end of August. So it’s still worth popping round for a quick visit this autumn. Information: bullheadbike.de

Willingen Bike Park: 8 November. Until then, the Ettelsberg cable car and the Köhlerhagen lift will be running daily from 9 am to 5 pm. Information: mtbzone-bikepark.com

Geißkopf Bike Park: 30 November. Experience has shown, however, that the slopes will open again at the weekends if the snow is slow to arrive. Otherwise, you can ski the runs all winter long – just without the lift. Information: mtbzone-bikepark.com

Season finale in Austria

In October, it’s time for the cable car operators in the Alps to prepare their facilities for the winter season. Some operators therefore close right on time at the start of October. Others are more flexible when it comes to the preparations and can wait for the first snow.

​Saalbach-Hinterglemm Bike Park: From 27 September, the rail services here will be gradually phased out:

• ​27 September 2026: Schattberg X-Press & Schattberg Sprinter
• 4 October 2026: Westgipfelbahn
• 11 October 2026: Kohlmais Railway
• 26 October 2026 (final closing): Zwölferkogel Cable Car

Saalfelden-Leogang Bike Park: From 2 to 4 October, the season finale will be celebrated in style at the BIKE Festival, alongside industry professionals and the season’s most exciting test bikes. The festival will then continue until 8 November. Information: bikepark.saalfelden-leogang.com

Bike Republic Sölden: 3–4 October. The end of the season is traditionally celebrated here with the huge and spectacular “BRS National Day”. A whole weekend of bike parades, bike shows, ride-outs with pros, parties and live music, plus a kids’ bike area with bike workshops, practice courses and face painting. Information: soelden.com

Schladming Bike Park: 31 October – 1 November. ‘Last Shred Ahead’ weekend! The Schladming crew are going to really let their hair down one last time this weekend. With photo shoots and training sessions, as well as plenty of great food. Info: planai.at

Brandtnertal Bike Park: On 1 November, the new gondola and the new trails, including the Kids’ Park, will close. Information: bikepark-brandnertal.at

​Petzen Bike Park: 1 November. The Carinthian Flowcountry Trails remain open daily during the autumn half-term holidays. Before that, from 14 September, and afterwards, they are open only from Thursday to Sunday. The very last day will be Sunday, 1 November. Information: mtbzone-bikepark.com
