Especially when you think of the idyllic landscape of the fjords on the western Little Belt, the islands of South Funen and the impressive chalk cliffs on the island of Møn. And let's not forget the cute little coastal towns or simply the picturesque, often lonely white Baltic beaches that make a cycle tour an experience - regardless of whether the tour covers 800 kilometres and almost 20 stages or whether you only tackle a small, fine section, such as the circumnavigation of the island of Funen or Lillebælt.
The route, marked with the blue "Østersøruten" sign, runs for long stretches on tarmac, quiet side roads and cycle paths. Along the coast and in forests, it occasionally runs along gravel and sand paths. Only rarely does it cross cycle lanes along busy main roads. Recommended for children aged eight and over.
The Baltic Sea Cycle Route starts in Padborg and ends in Sønderborg after around 800 kilometres. The route connects the mainland with the islands of Als, Ærø, Langeland, Lolland, Falster, Bogø, Møn, Zealand and Funen, with a variant via the island of Tåsinge. Due to its length and various ferry connections, the Baltic Sea Cycle Route offers many variations for a cycle tour. Recommended in 15-20 day stages for the entire route.
